My Thoughts
Pippa Grant is a nutcase. She must be. How else can does she
come up with these hilarious characters who make you laugh but are also so
endearing? I don’t know what her secret is, but I hope she continues because
her books always bring a smile to my face and snorts of laughter emerging from
me.
In Royally Pucked, Manning Frey is a ne’er-do-well prince
who is banished to the US after his latest indiscretion. He crosses paths with Gracie
Diamonte, an innocent small town girl and baker of naughty cookies. There are
horizontal shenanigans and real feelings between the two but there’s also those
other pesky life details. In Manning’s case, a fiancée he is trying to get rid
of. And in Gracie’s, a growing business she is trying to keep on the down-low.
Manning and Gracie were great characters. Sure, they provide
plenty of comedy but underneath, they are genuine people trying to do their
best when faced with life hurdles.
In addition to the appearance of characters from previous
books, we are also introduced to several characters in the town of Goat’s Tit.
Yes, Goat’s Tit. And yes, these people are definitely “characters”.
I know I sound like a broken record, but it’s true. If you’re
after a funny and light-hearted read, Pippa Grant’s your woman.
